The counseling department is hosting a FAFSA completion event February 6th during evening Parent Teacher conferences from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Parents and their students can bring in their tax information and get help filling out their FAFSA.
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is holding a Public Budget Meeting on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in the Soldotna High School library. Every-one interested is encouraged to attend. If there are questions, please contact Lassie Nelson at 714-8838.

Please take a moment to congratulate these Nikiski 7th and 8th graders (if you know them) for their accomplishments at this year’s district “Mind A-Mazes” meet this past Saturday at Soldotna Middle. The teams spent several weeks designing, building, testing, and modifying their devices for this year’s challenge. With almost 50 teams from around the district registered to participate, the 7th grade team (‘Krazy Cangaroos’ – Thomas Halliday, Gabriel Smith, John Bright) won the Judges Choice Award for their creative device design, and the 8th grade team (‘This Side Up’ – Jamie Yerkes, Melanie Sexton, Aaron McCollum, Sarah Nash) won both the overall Spontaneous Problem Challenge and 1st place overall for the intermediate 7-12 division!
Students can earn an Academic Letter by maintaining a 3.5 grade point average, or higher, for two consecutive semesters. The following students were recognized at the Nikiski High School Academic Excellence Award Ceremony on October 8, 2013 for earning an Academic Letter:

The Dance is Sat. Oct. 5 from 8pm-midnight here at the high school. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $8 a person or $15 a couple. Kelly Reilly is the photographer. Attire is Semi-formal.

The Powder Puff Game is Friday, October 4. at 6pm here at the school and the Bonfire will follow directly afterward. Both events are free and there will be a complimentary cookout at the bonfire. The bonfire ends between 9:30-10pm.
Six times throughout the academic year, on a Wednesday, schools will meet the minimum day, leaving teachers with approximately ninety minutes of additional time to work on improvement strategies. On these early release dates, school will end at 12:45 p.m. Bus transportation will be adjusted by ninety minutes.

The first Site Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 10 at 4:00 p.m. in the teachers lounge. The Site Council will be meeting on the second Tuesday of every month.
